Charity Event Wine Raffle at Ristrettos Wine Bar
On December 14th, Stan Parente Salons and Ristrettos Coffee & Wine joined forces for a holiday charity event. Guests enjoyed an evening of fashion, food, and fun, including an Avant-garde hair show, prizes, wine, and live music, Featuring our own James Caddell.
Raffle participants recieved great prizes, such as styling products, skin care, and services at Stan Parente Salons. Together, Stan Parente Salons and Ristrettos Wine & Coffee raised over $450 to benefit Vine Maple Place- a home for families in need. The event was a great success! Thank you to all who helped make this possible!

Toni & Guy Academy Haircut Class - October 24th
The Stan Parente Team had a great time at the October 24th haircut class. Top Toni & Guy educators, Danny and Michelle, taught two haircuts from the Classics and Anthems collections. Stylists were divided into two groups fro the hands-on portion- one group learned a funky long and layered cut, while the other group did a short and sassy pixie style. Our stylists are looking forward to taking these new haircuts back to their clients!
Bumble& bumble University in New York City
On October 13th, Megan, Ariana, Raeann, and Tami spent two whirlwind days at the Bumble& bumble University in New York City, sharpening their razor cutting skills. They learned a wide array of techniques for personalizing short, medium, and long haircuts. They easily earned their class graduation certificates. And, they thoroughly enjoyed the catered meals by the University's private chef!
Oribe Event in Downtown Seattle
On September 29th, Elyze, Kristy, and Jennifer attended an exclusive all-day Oribe event in Downtown Seattle. Oribe has been doing hair for 30+ years for celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez, and has been featured in Vogue magazine. Oribe presented three runway models at the beginning of the day, and then worked one-on-one with our stylists to design high-fashion updos.

On September 25th, Stan Parente Salons held a photo shoot at the Federal Way location with talented photographer, Katie Tyree. Stylists cut, colored, and styled their models to update their portfolios with glamorous and professional new photos.
Stan Parente Salons Extreme Makeover Event
On July 5th, stylists from all three salons teamed up for a makeover event at the Maple Valley location. Wielding mascara brushes, foil combs, and blow dryers, the Stan Parente team transformed the look of six amazing women. James M Caddell Makes his Eastside Debut at Stan Parente Salon in Bellevue
James M Caddell - Advanced Hairstyles will make his Eastside debut at the acclaimed Stan Parente Salon in Bellevue. Since May 31st - James is available every Tuesday from 10am to 7pm.
James brings his extensive experience of over 26-years in hair, having advanced training from Vidal Sassoon, Aveda, Yoshi, Gene Juarez Master Class, TiGi and William Morrow. He specializes in haircutting, color, Brazilian blow-out as well as perm curls and ethnic relaxers. Products used include Bumble & Bumble, Keracures, Avlon perms, Affirm relaxers and Tigi Color.
In additional to offering his services to the greater Eastside area of Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond; James will also continue to provide his services to clients at Stan Parente Salon in Federal Way.

Cutting it Up
The Stan Parente team is 'cutting it up' with advanced training in haircut design. On April 12th, the team attended a cutting class at the Bellevue salon. They learned a new high fashion cut, texture techniques and, as a bonus, a fancy updo style.
Kristy, Erin, Shandrica, and Leah from Maple Valley went to Bumble and Bumbles Spring 2011 razor cutting class in New York City. They were taught the latest razor cutting techniques for short and long hair.
Tony and Guy also had a hands on cutting class this Spring, which Kaeli and Kristy attended. All excited to share the latest trends with their clients!
In other news, Stan was invited, as one of only twenty other U.S. stylists, to participate in an event in New York City with Oribe. It concluded with an all-day editorial photo shoot.
Ashley Melchior of Maple Valley Creates Sophisticated Gothic Styles
One of our advanced stylists in Maple Valley, Ashley Melchior, recently created hair designs for a fashion photo shoot at a boutique in Tacoma called, "A Little Touch of Magik" owned by Julia Jones. The photo shoot took place in November, 2010 and the theme was "High Fashion Sophisticated Gothic." Ashley styled all 4 of the model's hair and did great! You may have seen some of these photographs in local publications.

Goldwell Global Event in Paris, France
This October, Stan Parente was invited to a "Goldwell Global Event". Goldwell Global Events happen once a year and are always in different countries. This year's event was held in Paris. Paris is always know for being high fashion, high class and having the top fashion designers. This Goldwell event was no different!
More than 2,000 hairdressers from 23 countries gathered on the Halle Freyssinet, home to the Chanel, Lanvin and Burberry Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week shows. For the ultimate hair color experience, the Global Event showed a finale of Trend Zoom 2010, and the world premier of Trend Zoom 2011.
There was a live final competition of stylists creating their own unique 2011 looks in just 3 hours or less. This was nerve racking for the stylists as you can imagine. When they completed the competition, Goldwell unveiled its 2011 trend, "Play Strong", which is all about bold haircuts and vivid hues. From short blonde "bobs", to avant-garde "updos", this new trend worked to create playful, strong, and feminine styles.
The line up featured a theatrical hair show by Swiss stylist Mondo Valentino, which was out of this world, with a stunning aquatic acrobatic performance. When the competition was over we found out who was winner of the three categories: New Talent Colorist to Luo Wan Jen from Taiwan, Partner Colorist went to Marcela Blechova from Czech Republic and the Creative Colorist was awarded Neil Barton from the UK, the first ever UK winner in the international finals.
Stan learned exciting new techniques and stronger, innovative point of view. Stan is bringing these modern looks back to both his Federal Way, and Maple Valley salons.

Goldwell Classes
On Nov. 1st Leah Chavez, Kristy Heimerman, Shandrica Knox and Sigurros Welborn of our Maple Valley Salon attended the KMS Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica California. The 2 day hands on Creative Color Placement class was taught by award winning stylist Dimitrios Tsioumas. They learned a few of the 2011 Goldwell color trends such as color blocking, boarding, baliage and free form techniques that focus on the design aspects and placement of coloration. They also learned about the newest Hollywood color trend called Ombre' that gives a beautiful natural look using color diffusion. This trip was very inspirational to the stylists and they are ready and waiting to put these new trends to use in the salon... just in time for the holidays!
Woot! What a great day! We had our first intra salon photo shoot to get new professional pictures for the salon website. The shoot was held at the Federal Way salon and combined stylists and hair models from both the Federal Way and Maple Valley salons.
The hair models we used were not professional models at all but our regular everyday customers!
Now the post production work of sorting, selecting, cropping and editing the 938 pictures taken will be done and 
selected shots will be submitted to national and international hair and beauty magazines for publishing. When you come in for your hair services later on, you'll be able to see the salon's work in an assortment of coffee table hair magazines that are in magazine stands and salons over the USA and the world.

Jenn Warrick helped the students of Auburn Riverside High School's fashion design program with their annual fashion show. Seventeen of the high school's fashion program's designers showcased their creations on their models for the highlight show of the school year. Jenn created styles on the models as they strutted their stuff on the catwalk and helped make the show a big hit.
Jenn also has her work shown in Beauty Revolution Magazine. Beauty Revolution is a consumer magazine featuring fashion and lifestyle.
She will be traveling soon to Santa Monica to attend Goldwell's Education Academy. She will be attending intensive color classes where she will be able to explore her knowledge of advanced color techniques including formulation, applications and placements. She will be be discussing and analysing seasonal trend collections with other advanced color technicians while participating in hands-on workshops. With this unique training experience under her belt, she'll come back fully inspired and more knowledgeable which will help her achieve even greater color results for each and every one of her valued clients.
Larry and Stan, this past Labor Day, as they have been doing for a number of years, donated their time and services to team up with a group that provides services for low income children. They were part of a crew of hairstylists that cut and styled hair for about sixty kids, giving them their "back to school" haircuts. The kids all had fun and were looking forward to attending school to go show off their stylish hairstyles. Larry modestly says this is his way of giving back to the community and sharing his talents.
Larry Ramirez, of the Federal Way salon and Sigurros, Amber, Leah, Erin and Sara of the Maple Valley Salon, recently attend the Goldwell's "Trend Zoom - The Futruretec Collection" color education seminar.
At that event the Goldwell national educators revealed the new hair colours while demonstrating and presenting them on their models wearing the new formulations. This event was a hands on program for the top colorists in the area.
All of our stylists learned the latest international techniques and trends, in keeping with what's going on in global hair fashions.
Larry, Amber, Leah, Erin and Sara also attend the yearly KMS Haircutting Seminar held by one of the top national educators of KMS artistic team. Haircuts were demonstrated along with color applications and techniques to go along with creating the new looks for the year. Attendees saw how the new looks and trends in haircutting, coloring and fashions were combined to create the total look.
Sara Crane from the Maple Valley salon attended the Bumble and Bumble Academy in New York. She learned the latest razor techniques, men's hair designs and advanced methods of cutting. At the academy, stylist participate in improving their skills while learning the current trends and contemporary hair fashions. It was a wonderful opportunity to work and learn from other stylists from all over the USA.
Ashley Melchior of the Maple Valley salon, attended an extensive hair event in Las Vegas. The event was attended by 2300 stylists from 37 countries. She came away truly inspired while gaining a lot of new, useful education which she can apply to her everyday work.
At a later date, she participated in an intensive, color workshop in Santa Monica, CA where she learned advanced color formulations and 20 different color techniques. Advanced color stylists got to share many ideas and apply what they learned to become more seasoned and knowledgeable colorists.
They brings all this knowledge right back to here to Federal Way and Maple Valley.

"Penny Wars"
Our salon just finish participating in our two month "Penny Wars". Penny Wars is a fun in salon benefit we do to collect money to donate to a worthwhile cause. We collected loose change, with the help of our wonderful customers and we carried on a friendly, but sometimes spirited competition amongst the stylist.
We picked as the recipient this year, Phoebe House. Phoebe House is a facility where woman can live with their kids. They provide housing, services, and support to Pierce County mothers and children impacted by substance abuse.
With the money raised, we were able to fulfill the residence's "Wish List" for Christmas, which in most cases were basic necessities, such as a warm coat. Some of the stylist, as they were out shopping, were able to obtain many fantastic extra items from the stores themselves who also wanted to contribute. The gifts included toys, books, clothing, kids and baby items which were wrapped and presented to the house.
Because of the money raised, the generous donations and to the awesome efforts of the individual stylist who organized it, we were able to also give them over five hundred and fifty dollars worth of gift cards as stocking stuffers.
